meaning or purpose?

Why does it seem magical to be alive? Because it is. It is how we define magic. Magic as life and enigmatic experience. Magic as (inevitable) surprise. Surprise as occasional delight or fright.

And no matter what we agree, each sees and feels differently. We are not our “categories” but rather rely on them for efficiency and avoidance of infinite regress.

No truth owns us but we create our own.

But what are we?

People, individuals are constructs. They are not souls but systems whose optimal performance and survival depend on constructs both physical and virtual. It is not bifurcation of implementation. It is a finely tuned incestuous mesh with distributed nodes for achieving survival and reproduction.

Of course we say “achieving”, ascribing purpose retrospectively. We could simply say that the “must” of animal survival is evinced in a self aware system, capable of premeditation, prediction, recall and adaptation. What you call it doesn’t matter. Terminological wars are distractions.

If meaning is pattern and pattern implies instantiation, what are the modes and extent of that instantiation? What perception and response occurs? Is there a self construct?

Personal meaning and purpose are getting a divorce from strict adherence to the geno-animal perspective. Hive-like behavior and “goals” emerge which defy and surpass the purely analog purpose vectors of individual animals, weaving a universal Turing machine of delightful scope and flexibility.

Multi-people and non-people exist who shape the future. Their constructs are not bound or limited to animal identity or survival. Animals are like letters in the words of large purpose.
